Connected Users

Is it possible to delete connections?

Yes, you can delete a connection.

iOS: swipe the connection to the left and press ‘delete connection’.

Android: hold connection, press ‘delete connection’.

In which order are the connected users sorted?

Connected users are sorted on last name.

How many users can I be connected with at the same time?

There is no maximum number of connections.

Can I add notes to the connected people?

This is not possible at the moment.

How do I share the Cuppa app with my friends and/or colleagues?

Go to Menu > Share, then click on the Share button. You can share the link in a message, email, whatsapp, etc.

What personal information does the Cuppa app track? (location, phone number, etc.?)

Location is actively tracked.

Cuppa also stores basic LinkedIn profile data, such as email, name etc.

Can I use the app without allowing it to track my location?

In order to use Cuppa, you’ll need to grant access to your device’s location.

  1. On iPhone: go to your iOS settings > Cuppa > Location
  2. On Android: go to your phone’s Settings > Apps > Cuppa > Permissions > Location

You have the possibility to limit the use of your location only when using the app, but it will limit the purpose of the app.

You can however pause location tracking for 8 hours (Menu > Preferences > My account > pause for 8 hours).

Can I log in without having the LinkedIn app?

In iOS, yes, it will automatically.

Do I need a LinkedIn account?

Yes, Cuppa is a professional networking service focused solely on interactions and relationships of a business nature. At the moment LinkedIn is the business social network.

Manage Profile

Can I create a personal avatar?

The Cuppa app uses your profile picture from LinkedIn. This means that if you want another avatar, you’ll have to change your profile picture on LinkedIn. Then go to Menu > Manage profile > Sync my LinkedIn data.

Why is my specialties tab empty?

If the specialties tab is empty, you don’t have any information configured in your LinkedIn profile. Add specialties in LinkedIn and then go to Menu > Manage profile > Sync my LinkedIn data.

Can I disable any info being shown on my profile?

No, but people won’t see your full profile until you’ve connected with them.

Non-connected users will only see:

  1. Network motivation & details
  2. Interests
  3. My profile (First name, headline, industry)

People you’ve connected with will see your full profile:

  1. Network motivation & details
  2. Interests
  3. My profile (First and surname, position, headline, industry, specialties, summary, location, number of LinkedIn connections)

How do I change things on my profile?

Go to Menu > Manage profile. You can sync (download) your LinkedIn profile to the Cuppa app. If you want to make changes to your profile you therefore should make changes in LinkedIn and then sync in the Cuppa app.

Nearby Users

What is the radius of the nearby users? And is it possible to change this radius?

Currently the radius is set to 100 meters. The radius cannot be changed by the user.

Will nearby users refresh automatically, or do I need to refresh manually?

If you return from another screen, like ‘Connected Users’ or ‘Notifications’, the Nearby Users screen will update automatically. When you are currently using the ‘Nearby Users’ screen, you need to refresh it manually: ‘pull to refresh’ or push the ‘try again’ button on the ‘Nearby Users’ screen.

Can I select an option so that I don’t see certain people anymore, even if they are near me?

No, this is not possible at the moment.

Can I pause tracking of my location?

Yes, you can. In the app, choose menu-item Preferences > My Account > Pause for 8 hours setting.

Notifications

Can I sort my notifications?

No, you can not sort your notifications.

Can I block push notifications?

You can disable (coffee request) notifications in Menu > Preferences > Notifications > Coffee requests. You will not receive (push) notifications when receiving a coffee request or when a coffee request is accepted.

Preferences

Where can I buy new coffee requests?

Go to Menu > Preferences > Coffee credits > Buy more coffee credits. There you can select the amount of credits you want to buy. You can buy 20 credits, 100 credits or 200 credits.

What are the payment possibilities?

The payment is as configured in the Apple iTunes Store and the Google Play Store.

Can I change what LinkedIn account is being used for the app?

Yes, if you log out of the Cuppa app, just sign in with a different LinkedIn account.

Where can I set/change my ‘interests’?

In the Cuppa app, choose menu-item Preferences > My preferences > Your interests.

What is meant by ‘interests’?

These are personal interests or passions. Sharing your interests and passions will make it easy to start a coversation.

Where can I set/change my ‘networking details’?

In the Cuppa app, choose menu-item Preferences > My preferences > Reason for meeting people. Don’t forget to push ‘Save’ (top right corner) when you change your ‘networking motivation’ or ‘networking details’.

What is meant by ‘networking details’?

If there are any details regarding your networking motivations, you can state them here. Consider, for example: Are you looking for advice on a specific topic? Or can you advise other people about a particular subject? What kind of connections are you looking for?

In the Cuppa app, choose menu-item Preferences > My preferences > Reason for meeting people. Don’t forget to push ‘Save’ (top right corner) when you change your ‘networking motivation’ or ‘networking details’.

What is meant by ‘networking motivation’?

What is your reason for meeting people? We have 6 reasons to choose from: ‘Satisfaction of helping others’, ‘Positive influence from others’, ‘Getting advice’, ‘Generation of referrals’, ‘Opportunities’ or ‘Connections’.
